The customer has a vehicle preparation area with 2 lockable garages and extensive workshop equipment available: equipment:

![]() The vehicle preparation area, and garages can also be used separately by the customers. The entrance to the building is controlled by an electronic access system. There is no general entry into the building. The access is controlled with differentiated card profiles. Only the wind tunnel staff is able to manage the access. |

Measurement technique
For both test facilities, efficient measuring equipment is available, including sensors for velocities, pressures and temperatures.
The data acquisition will be done with standard measurement software such as NI DIAdem or Etas INCA
The wind tunnel data can be placed online to the customer CAN interface via a dbc file. If the customer doesn`t have this possibility the data will be given to the customer after the measurement.
In addition to the data acquisition by the customer it is possible to collect and handle all datas through the Modine company.
Highlights:
1) electronic accelerator

To ensure the reproducibility at constant speed drives, the customer can use a powerful, electronically controlled accelerator. This is positioned on the driver's seat and connected by rods to the accelerator pedal. The accelerator controls the target speed and keeps it constant, regardless of the dyno force. With this convenience, the customer can intensely focus on his measurement. |
2) Measuring of the cooling air mass flow
| Using specially developed probes - so called "Micro Probes" - the cooling air can be measured during road tests. Before the heat exchanger with the fitted micro-probes can be installed into the vehicle, it has to be calibrated on a component test bench.

3) Measuring the boundary layer

To measure the laminar boundary layer height, a boundary layer measurment equipment with high accuracy pressure measurement system is available. |
To meet the requirements of ISO TS16949, all sensors are calibrated regularly. These is conducted by process, pressure and temperature calibrators.

For a quick overview, hand-held probes with direct readouts may be used. Also external air flows can be rendered locally visible with a ‘smoke-probe‘. |
